Corrections Policy

How Meridian Daily handles errors: how to report a mistake, how we review requests, and how corrections, clarifications and updates are published.

Last updated:

Accuracy is the foundation of trustworthy journalism. Despite our best efforts and the verification standards described in our Editorial Policy, mistakes can happen. When they do, Meridian Daily is committed to correcting them promptly, clearly and transparently.

How to Report an Error

If you believe something we published is inaccurate, please email corrections@meridiandaily.com or use the form on our contact page. To help us review your request quickly, please include:

  • The headline and link (URL) of the article.
  • The specific statement you believe is incorrect.
  • The correct information and, where possible, a source or evidence that supports it.
  • Your name and email address, so we can follow up if we need more information.

We read every correction request. You do not need to be the subject of a story to report an error.

How We Review Requests

Correction requests are reviewed as a priority by the editor responsible for the relevant section and, where needed, by our Editor-in-Chief. We check the disputed information against original sources, contact the reporter and, if necessary, consult additional sources or experts.

We aim to acknowledge correction requests within two business days. Straightforward errors are usually corrected the same day they are confirmed. More complex matters may take longer, and we will keep you informed of our progress.

We correct errors of fact. We do not change articles simply because a person or organization disagrees with how they were portrayed, would prefer a different emphasis or regrets comments they made on the record. Disagreements about opinion or interpretation may be addressed through a clarification or by adding a response where appropriate.

Types of Changes

Corrections

A correction is issued when we publish a factual error, such as a wrong name, date, figure, title, quote or misstatement of fact. The error is fixed in the article, and a correction note is added at the end of the article explaining what was wrong and what has been changed. For example:

Correction, October 15, 2026: An earlier version of this article misstated the year the company was founded. It was founded in 2012, not 2015.

Clarifications

A clarification is added when an article was factually accurate but could be misunderstood, lacked important context or was worded in a misleading way. Clarifications are noted in the same way as corrections.

Updates

When a story develops after publication, we may add new information. Significant updates are noted with the date and a brief description of what was added, so readers can see how the story has changed.

Minor fixes

Spelling, grammar, formatting and broken links that do not change the meaning of an article may be fixed without a note.

Significant Errors

If an error is central to a story, or if a story is found to be fundamentally flawed, our Editor-in-Chief decides on the appropriate response. This may include a prominent editor's note at the top of the article, a substantial rewrite with full explanation, or, in rare cases, removing the article and replacing it with an explanation of why it was withdrawn. We do not silently delete articles to hide errors.

Headlines, Images and Social Media

Corrections apply to all parts of our content, including headlines, summaries, image captions, charts and data. Where an erroneous article was shared on our official social media accounts, we will make reasonable efforts to post the correction on the same platform.

Unpublishing Requests

We generally do not remove accurate published articles. Requests to remove or anonymize content are considered case by case, for example where there is a risk to someone's safety, where a story concerns a minor, or where an outdated report about a minor matter causes disproportionate harm. Send such requests to editor@meridiandaily.com. Requests relating to personal data rights can also be sent to privacy@meridiandaily.com.

Accountability

We keep a record of corrections to help us identify patterns and improve our reporting. If you are not satisfied with our response to a correction request, you may ask for it to be reviewed by our Editor-in-Chief, Eleanor Hayes, at editor@meridiandaily.com.

Thank you for helping us keep Meridian Daily accurate.
